Event: Christmas at the Roosevelt
Imagine a hall filled with tens of thousands of tiny lights in a old-charm New Orleans Hotel right in the Central Business District. This is the setting of the Roosevelt Hotel, which is part of the Waldorf-Astoria chain. The Roosevelt is charming any time of the year, but it is gorgeous at Christmastime.
After walking through the lobby and admiring the lights and several Christmas trees, I recommend the Sazerac Bar. The mahogany bar, sofas and leather chairs make me think I've stepped back in time; I almost expect to see men with cigars and hats from a bygone era.

At Christmastime, the Sazerac makes seasonal cocktails. I like one called Mrs. Claus's Cookies, which really tastes like biting into a sugar cookie, and it's even topped with colorful sprinkles. In addition, they have a their specialty drinks, like the house-named cocktail. The Sazerac is rye whiskey-based with lemon.
I have been to the Roosevelt and the Sazerac for two Christmas seasons in a row, and I've loved it each time. I'm looking forward to seeing the lights again in Christmas futures. Some traditions you don't tire of! Have you been to the Roosevelt? What other New Orleans Christmas traditions do you enjoy?
