Exploration: The Junction

This week's exploration lead us to the Bywater, an area of New Orleans I know almost nothing about. It's considered to be "artsy" and "cool." Geographically, it's a neighborhood past the French Quarter, and, as its name suggests, is by the water of the Mississippi. Though the Junction is not near the river, it is squarely in the Bywater.

Giselle and I took an Uber out there. The driver said she drops a lot of people off here, and it is rated to have some of the best burgers in the city. We came at 9:00 PM, though, so past dinner time, sat at the bar and ordered drinks. I ordered a Virtue Cider, which I found to be a little bitter, but okay. Giselle got a German beer. The bartender gave her a tall bottle of the beer and a glass to pour it in, which was charming.

Throughout the evening, the crowd seemed to come and go in waves. The bar alternated between being too loud for conversation between the chatter and the music and quiet. There was a Pelican's game playing on several TVs as well.

I give The Junction a 2 for the loud music and high-ish prices (our two drinks were $15), which I think is too high for a place that is more like a dive bar.
  •   The good points about it: the menu is fun. It gives a detailed description of the beers offered.
  •   There is a pick-up window outside, where people ordered to-go drinks and/or food (they were all on foot).
So there you have it. Has anyone else been to the Junction? What is your thought?
