Exploration: Chocolate and Beer at Urban South

Some of you might remember my past exploration blog post of Urban South. If not, check it out here!  Urban South is a brewery in my neighborhood, and I love the converted warehouse atmosphere, picnic tables and friendly service. 

Though I'm not typically a fan of beer (I like a few of the flavored beers and they make some good ciders, though!), a "chocolate and beer" event sounded like fun. Urban South partnered with Piety and Desire Chocolate to pair up four different beers with four different chocolates. My favorite was the Sweet Potato Stout, which sounds a little odd, but had a surprising nutty and sweet flavor. I liked the dark chocolate sample best.

Piety and Desire also served chocolate king cake, which was amazing! Mid-Mardi Gras, I kind of get tired of the typical king cakes, so a chocolate version was not only different, it was really good. I plan to stop into their store soon (located at 2727 South Broad St).
