Event: Dat Dog Art Market

Event: Art Market at Dat Dog
Location: 3366 Magazine Street (Uptown)

Outdoor art markets are pretty big in New Orleans. The most well known, the French Market, is large and touristy, but still a fun place to browse. (It even has a farmer's market on Wednesday afternoons, in case you're in the mood for something fresh while you're strolling through the Quarter!) I bought a strawberry purse for my little niece there once.

One of my personal favorites, however, is in Uptown, along Magazine Street. The art market at Dat Dog is small and I've managed to purchase something every time I've gone. It's held every Saturday and Sunday from 12-6 PM. Though sellers do not need to be constant, I have seen familiar people there.

This weekend (June 16 and 17th) a friend of mine is selling. Her merchandise is twofold--handmade kimonos and t-shirts authentic Mexican shirts, jewelry and other accessories. I have personally bought several of her items; I promise, they're good.

UPDATE: My friend canceled her spot due to inclement weather. Her items are always available at the Shops at 2011 Magazine Street, which is a neat place in itself. For all of my non-local readers, you can view, and order, her items at https://handicrafted.blogspot.com/.
