Listening to live music is one of my favorite activities in
New Orleans. The genre almost doesn't matter, so long as the musicians are
(reasonably) talented and passionate. The Circle Bar, located on the boundary of the Lower Garden
District and the Central Business District, at Lee Circle. You can hear live
music most every night. The exposed brick wall behind the bar is charming. It's a
small space with room for maybe twenty-five people. It's a local favorite, not
a tourist bar.
Music ranges from country to metal, and has the honor of
hosting the strangest performer I have seen to date-- a pink, horned clown who
danced around and spent one song just screaming. Drinks are pretty standard fare of beer, wine and mixed
drinks. I usually order a wine of some type.
Have you been to The Circle Bar? Do you have a favorite
performer there?
